I was third in line of six children. My parents were loving, self-taught, and grew up during the depression.  Their culture of being personally responsible as well as self-starters, was passed down to all of us.

 

I married young and soon had two beautiful daughters, but a few years later I found myself divorced and alone. This left me raising my daughters on my own while working and going to school to be a nurse.

 

I worked for the U.C. Davis healthcare system for many years, in many specialty areas, as well as several hospitals. I learned so much in every new location, there were different types of patients and different protocols to follow. 

 

Since becoming a nurse, I have enjoyed helping so many patients and have gained an appreciation for how hard it is to help people who are ill. I saw hospital politics and other regulating agencies, create strict timelines and barriers, preventing doctors and nurses from being able to care completely for their patients. This is why after 30+ years of nursing, I became a nurse coach. I can spend extended time with my patients, get to know them, their background, and incorporate their current lifestyle into their health plan.
